Research
Interests: International Macroeconomics and International Trade
My
research is at the intersection of trade and macro. My most recent work uses
micro-data on exporters to test for state-dependent pricing and variable
markups. I also work on the role of goods and asset market frictions in
explaining various international macro puzzles – the failure of international
consumption risk sharing; exchange rate pass-through; the response of exports
to “sudden stops.” In the past, I have worked on the relationship between
technology, factor endowments and international specialization of production,
and on the Balassa-Samuelson effect.
